KCS and ETSU Launch GEAR UP Partnership with Family Kick-Off Event
WHAT: KCS and ETSU GEAR UP Family Kick-Off Event - Light the Way
WHEN: Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 6-7:30 p.m. Registration opens at 5:15 p.m.
WHERE: Kingsport Farmers Market, 308 Clinchfield Street, Kingsport
Kingsport City Schools (KCS) and East Tennessee State University (ETSU) will launch their GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) partnership with a free Family Kick-Off Event - Light the Way on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, bringing 7th and 8th grade students, families, educators, and community partners together to explore college and career pathways.
Students from Robinson Middle School and Sevier Middle School and their families will participate in interactive activities, meet GEAR UP staff and ETSU representatives, and learn about resources designed to support students throughout their middle and high school years as they progress toward postsecondary education or the workforce.
The event will also feature food, games, inflatables, giveaways, and a visit from ETSU mascot, Bucky.
The event is free and registration is recommended. Robinson and Sevier Middle School families of 7th or 8th grade students can register by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer or by registering online now.
